Last day in town. Off to the Cowboy Church of Nashville, right next to the Opryland version of the Ernest Tubb Record Shop, for a 10am service. Solid pro 5-piece band w/ steeler Jay Shupe on a Carter D-10 – very tasteful playing, super guy. Turns out we missed Jeff Surratt, the regular steelman.

We finished off our afternoon by cruising out to Priest Percy Lake but the gnats were something fierce. So we gathered ourselves & hauled off to the airport.

Regrets? I have a few. Separate rooms. Missing Pete Finney’s steel demo at the CMHOF Sunday afternoon. Joshua Motohashi at the Ryman. Mike Sweeney at The Wheel. Shoulda spent some time at the clubs out by Opryland instead of the Wildhorse. Printer’s Alley. Didn’t get to see the Time Jumpers or the Blackhawks versus the Predators.

Tips: Nashville is hilly - be prepared for a hike. Park for free on the street after 6pm at the top of the hill, e.g., 6th and Church. Always keep your camera ready. Pace yourself. Buy a steeler a beer.

Thanks to all those who contributed to these threads.

Lastly, my brother and I send out best wishes to all the good people of Nashville during this period of horrendous weather. We loved your city - you'll be back and so will we.

That is a very nice write up Frank. I got to relive my own similar trip from a year ago. I share your good thoughts/prayers for the City and its warm hearted people.
