Hey Mickey. If you see this posting I hope you might have a video up your sleeve showing how to use the G pedal. I'm playing an Emmons E9 setup where the G pedal goes from D# to D 1/2 step, then C# whole step. I'm still in need of basics work and am becoming comfortable w/ ABC pedals and DE knee levers but could use some insight as to some of the things the G pedal will let me do. I have been very grateful for your videos already out there and hope I didn't miss one you may already have done and posted on this subject. _________________ Emmons S10, p/p, Nashville 112, Zion 50 tele style guitar, Gibson LP Classic w/Vox AC30, Fender Deluxe De Ville and a Rawdon-Hall classical |

One option is to play strings 1, 2, and 5. That is a major chord -- B major in open position. Now lower the second string to D and you have a B minor chord. Lower it to C# and you have a Bsus2 which resolves to a B major (or B minor) when you release it. Very useful.
Another way to look at it is that when you lower the second string to D your (open) E chord becomes an E7. You can also use it with Pedal A to get a D major chord.
When you lower it to C#, you have (in open position) a nine or ten string E major/C# minor pentatonic scale, as well as a C# minor chord.
Both pulls are also useful in single string melodic work. And there are many other chords you can get with them depending on your copedant. _________________ I give music lessons on several different instruments in Cambridge, NY (between Bennington, VT and Albany, NY).
