I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE NEW BUT WILL TAKE USED IF THEY ARE LIKE NEW CONDITION.
I have noticed at times the sound of my higher strings are muffled and don't ring out and sustain like some of the newer guitars I have played.
Other times I have noticed distortion.
One time I got no sound at all until I moved the pickup wire under the guitar.
I had a Carter that was much better on the 10th fret up on the higher strings.
I know this Pedalmaster is a great guitar and isn't supposed to be this way.
I am assuming the pickup is the problem and it seems to be a cheap fix if it is. |

Flip 'er over, and check all the solder joints first. |

Sorry
Flip what over?
The steel or the pickup??
I have looked at the connections to both output jacks and they seem fine.
I have not removed the pickup as of yet and won't until I get another one.
I believe it has a truetone on it now and I believe I would like to try a BL -710?? |

David,
You posted; "One time I got no sound at all until I moved the pickup wire under the guitar."
That leads me to believe there may just be a bad connection somewhere. If you flip the guitar over, so you can get at the wiring, you may be able to find a loose connection. Try touching a soldering iron to each connection, and re-melting the old solder. Look for any wires that might be frayed too.

Hi John
Can the wires get loose from inside the pickup?
That is the only thing I can guess
All other solder joints Appear to be good and tight.
Thanks for the imput. Changing the pickup looks to be fairly easy. |

"Changing the pickup looks to be fairly easy."
In most cases it's an easy job. But the Truetones are great-sounding pups, so I'd try and find eggs ackley what is wrong. How about lying the guitar on it's side on a table, and plugging into an amp? Then you could strum the strings whilst wigglin' the wires. Could the wire leads from the pickup break? Sure. |
