I would like to comment, IMO, about Billy Cooper, of www.billycoopersmusic.com. I have just listened to his CD, "Sounds Of Steel", available at his and Wanda's webb site and I love it. I enjoy the way Billy phrases his music, the mix of notes, that make it easy for me to (try to) play at it anyway. The inventory of songs on this CD and some others are at their web site, and you can click on some samples for a listen. I have always enjoyed doing business with them over the years, IMO, wonderful friends that live their faith with great integrity. |

I also have one of these CDs. It has a good mix of tunes and as usual, Billy's playing is superb. |

I'd love to go to Billy Cooper's Steel Guitar shop. I've heard there are three showrooms full of great steel guitars.

Go to the top of this page and click on "Links." Then click on "Vendors," Then click on "Billy Cooper's Music." If you have a high speed connection, and your audio works, you will hear a superb renditon of "The Healing Hands of Time." The first time I heard it, it blew me away. The playing is so clean, and tasteful, and the tone is to die for. I ordered the CD from Wanda after hearing that one song on the internet.
Billy is a fine player, a gentleman, and has a great store. You can see some pictures of his shop when you click on the link above. If you live at all close, get over there for a vist. You WILL enjoy it!

Well I don't live too close but I have been to the store and was treted like an old friend. Billy said play any guitar you want and don't be shy. When I told him I built a few guitars myself, he took me in the back and showed me all his equipment Must have spent two hours there. I buy from them whenever I need stuff and I have it here in no time I think they are super people and would love to go back and see them And Billy is a great picker |

Billy's manner of playing is what draws me to his playing. No clutter. Just crystal clear steel guitar without loads of fills that have nothing to do with the melody. |

I love the choice of steel guitars also, seriously! Wish I'd have been there, I think a lot of both of these guys, playing and personally.

All the things said above are true but one of my favorite things about going to Billy's store is what he has hanging on the wall. One example of just about every classic steel guitar ever built and in many cases very early production examples. Come to think of it I don't think he has a Bigsby but just about everything else you'd want to see are there.
Bret,
Billy may not quite have the inventory he once had but still has a very large showroom full of steels and I believe has that many more in the back rooms in cases. |

Billy and Wanda are both fantastic people, I visit their shop as often as I can... Billy and Buddy Charlton recorded a project together titled, "Steel Together" that is exceptional (Billy's version of, "Don't Touch Me" is a standout!). The tune selection is well thought out and the playing is superb. Rhythm tracks and tab book are also available. |

Billy & Buddy's "Steel Together" CD is as good as it gets! Buddy's version of "Half A mind" is worth the CD alone! kr |

I find Billy and Wanda very easy to trade with; or buy. I tell them what I want, they give me the price, I pay and it's delivered ASAP, IMO. I find their work on my guitars impeccable. I block time with them, drive down, Billy repairs or modifies and my guitar is ready to play. I feel very comfortable with these two wonderful people; I wish that they lived next door to me. |
