Hello Everyone
I know this is sort of last minute, but I thought I would get the word out to anyone who would be interested in going for a Huey Helicopter Ride this coming Saturday, 15 May 2010. The Army Aviation Heritage Foundation will be in two different locations in Alabama. Huey Rides will be conducted at the Auburn Airport, Auburn, Alabama and they will also be conducted on Guthrie Army Heliport on Ft Rucker which is located near the Aviation Museum.
Our Cobra Team (four AH-1F Cobras) will be performing at an Air Show at Andrews Air Force Base in the DC area, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Also for you folks in Georgia, Huey Rides will be conducted on Friday, 18 June at the Clayton County Airport across from the Atlanta Motor Speedway in Hampton, Ga. The Vietnam Helicopter Crew Member Association is holding their reunion in Atlanta and they asked the AAHF to conduct Huey Rides. The rides that day will also be open to the public. On Saturday, 10 July, Huey Rides will be conducted at the Gainesville Airport in Gainesville, Ga.
For anyone coming to the Huey Rides on 18 June, after the ride you can go to our hanger complex on Tara Field and check out the other AAHF aircraft.
Take care and don't miss the opportunity to come fly with the veterans and aircraft that made history.
Still Serving,
SFC(R), US Army
Crew Chief, Huey Ride Program |

Frank you guys do a great job. The last 'huey' ride I took was Jul 3, 1968 from outside Ban Me Thuot to Cam Ranh Bay, VN. They called it "Dust Off".

My last USN UH-1 ride was in 1981. Great aircraft - they could really take a beating. |

Eddie, I wanted to tell you that we have a M model gunship in our hanger, that carries the markings of the 1/9 Cav. Also, we have four H model Hueys (two of them were in Vietnam - one with the lst Cav and the other with the 101st Abn Div. We will be coming to the Dayton Air Show on 17 and 18 July to conduct Huey rides. As it stands now we will be bring three Huey's.
Fred thanks for the complement. Maybe you could do some checking with the folks in Texas about us coming there and doing Huey Rides |

We had Huey rides in Branson a couple of years ago, along with a traveling exhibit of The Wall. The Wall exhibit was very moving. Paulette Carlson of Highway 101 fame was there searching for the name of a lost loved one. The Huey ride was great! _________________ Doug Earnest

Now this sounds like FUN, I have always wanted to get the chance to fly in a Huey. If I was down there in Alabama on Saturday, you know where I would be, and I would be 1st in line. |

I was looking at our Huey Ride schedule and I wanted to also tell everyone that on 17 and 18 July, there will be Huey Rides at the Dayton Air Show in Dayton, Ohio. Last year we had three Hueys there for two days. We were as busy as some trying to kill ants with a hammer. For anyone planning on coming to the Atlanta race in September, we will be doing Huey rides the Thursday, Friday, and Saturday before the 500. |

We had a good turn out yesterday for the Huey Rides at Ft Rucker and Auburn, AL. At Ft Rucker we did 18 lifts(180 people)and at Auburn we did 27 lifts(270 people). The weather was great at both locations and everyone had a good time. Anyone interested, you can check the website www.ArmyAv.org and check the schedule to see if there is a Huey Ride event near you. Also, if anyone would like to host a Huey Ride event you can contact AAHF Headquarters. For those of you in middle Georgia, Memorial Day weekend we are taking on of our Black AH-1F Cobras to Butler Toyota in Macon. Butler will be giving away either rides for 100 people in a Huey or 10 ten rides in a Cobra. If you ever get the chance, come fly with the veteran and aircraft that made history. |
