My brother been working on an LDG and is having some re-assembly problems. A half stop on the second string (barrell type)is not working properly. It will half lower the string at the half stop but when the lever is further engaged it goes back up in tune insted of lowering the whole step. Would anyone have any advise on this issue. Thanks. He may be overtightening the tuning nut. Can you disconnect the rod and pull the lower finger with needle nose until it hits C#? If so you need to give the lever more travel. Easy enough to check.
Also, make sure the half stop is not somehow preventing the whole tone lower. _________________ Larry Bell - email: larry@larrybell.org - gigs - Home Page

The rod may be at too much of an angle to the finger, and is locking up in the hole.
Then, when you carry on pushing the lever, the whole finger assembly moves, taking the pitch back up.
I've seen this before on several steels, and the solution is to slightly elongate the hole in the finger. |
