Karen, your positive posts about your Stage One were instrumental in my decision to purchase one. I love it and I will never give it up. Yet I recently bought an old S-12 MSA to overhaul (maybe it'll be on "Pimp My Steel" some day!). I'm trying not to get obsessed with gear but I admit it is addicting.

Having spent the last 30 years on banjo I can say it's the same in both camps. Gotta have the best, gotta polish it, gotta shine that chrome... wait a minute, how about playing it? Sometimes actually playing the instrument is secondary.

When I started out playing steel in the early 70s I had a guitar and an amp. Now, I don't know what all this modern stuff is- "cabs" "racks" and all that other junk. I don't care to know, either. I still believe that all you need is a good guitar and an amp, your talent will take care of the rest.

I love my stage one ! Mine is teak but I bought it used. I probably would have gone with black if I bought new. I'm back in love with my Mullen now too so it's all good.
