Steinar Gregertsen + Steve Cunningham - Superb!

For my money, our pals Steinar Gregertsen and Steve Cunningham are the finest lap steel players I've heard in contemporary rock (I'd throw in Darrick Campbell on some of his rock-like gospel playing but perhaps he wouldn't want to be considered as such).

Steinar's feel for melody and for building solos that have a true compositional arc is consistent throughout all his playing whether acoustic or electric. Superb performance in the clip above by both soloists.

Steve just kills it here; tone, feeling, phrasing, a sense of telling a story with his playing. What else could you ask for?
