Jazz Masters Vol. Two ($24.95 list) The Guitar Show began in 1984 as a weekly television show on Manhattan Cable in New York City. The show was
produced and hosted by Christian Roebling. All guitar styles were presented
from Jazz to Rock and Folk to Classical. The list of guitarists that
appeared reads like a whos who in the world of guitar playing. In these
first DVD releases we present the playing of some of the Masters of Jazz
Guitar. JACK WILKINS Theme From Black Orpheus Like Someone In Love HERB

Larry Coryell "A Retrospective" ($17.99 list) Recorded in Hollywood,
California in 2005, this 2-DVD set contains more than 20 songs of Coryell's
original songbook dating from the late 60s through the early 70s. Included
on the DVD are short interviews with Coryell, as well as extensive rehearsal
footage. With the crack bass playing of John Hart and drumming of Bernard
"Pretty" Purdie, this material just sparkles from beginning to end. Coryell
is joined by guest guitarists James Valentine of Maroon 5, David Hidalgo of
Los Lobos, and his son Julian, as well as Winston Byrd on trumpet and Tracey
Piergross on vocals. ($12 shipped)
Mahavishnu Orchestra "Live at Montreux 1974 and 1984" ($17.99 list) Formed
by John McLaughlin in 1971, the Mahavishnu Orchestra pioneered the fusion of
jazz elements into rock music while still undeniably retaining the power and
muscle of a full on rock band. With McLaughlin as the ever-present, the
line-up went through various phases and these two concerts from Montreux
showcase the band at distinctively different times of their career, with the
seventies show featuring later stars Jean-Luc Ponty and Michael Walden and
the eighties concert featuring saxophone maestro Bill Evans.
Visual footage only exists of three tracks from the 1974 show (although this
is still over 73 minutes of footage) but the other tracks exist as audio
masters and they have been added as bonus material.
