Anyone have a lapsteel size case lying around? The
inside dimensions need to be about 36X10X3.

Kevin Hatton builds very nice cases to your measurements.
Do you need a hard shell case, or would a gig bag do just as well? There have been many discussions on gig bags and cases here before. _________________ Brad’s Page of Steel

My Cruztone came with a case that would probably work. It's made from a gun case and some foam. |

If you decide to have a case built I would highly reccomend Fred Justice; He will build one that fits like a glove. He is very easy to work with and his quality is top notch.
I have one and am very pleased.
Fred is a forum member as is Kevin you might want to look at their websites.

If you want a hard case and don't want to spend a bunch, checkout Baritone Ukele cases. You might have to add some filler! They measure aprox. 30 1/2"L., body length 13 1/2" upper bout 7 /12" lower bout 10" with 3 1/8" depth. I had to modify the saddle rest for the neck to make it a little wider and deeper. Silver Creek makes one that sells for $59.95 @ musicianfriend etc. |

I'll bet that tactical gun case garners a lot of interest when you carry it through an airport!! |

I've flown all over the US and to Japan with a lap steel in tow and never had anyone look twice at the "tactical rifle case". The only time I was asked what was inside was when I stopped at a border patrol check point here in So. Cal. with a lap in the case on the back seat of my pickup. I said "a lap steel guitar" and the agent gave me a weird look and waived me through. |

I would second the recommendation for Kevin Hatton. Both the product and the customer service are first rate. _________________ Amor vincit omnia |

I have a take-down shotgun case for one of my steels. It's rectangular and aluminum...and green camo'd. I've gotten several funny looks with it but never had to take it on a plane. |
