What ever happened to this one? Haven't heard anything in a long while. Was it that bad? I would have thought that the built in effects processor and tuner would have made this a long lasting staple.

It was called the "Session 2000".

I think it was a victum of the same fate as the TubeFex and TransTube Fex, certain parts were no longer available and it would have required a complete redesign, which Peavey didn't want to do.

That's true Jack. Motorolla was supplying the card readers for these units, and they decided not to build those anymore. An alturnative was available, but it would have increased the cost of the amp too much, so Peavey decided to discontinue building them.

I was passing through Michigan one day a few years ago and went into Dannys shop to buy a NV1000. He didn't have one but I walked out with what I think was the last S2000 he had. Great amp and still have it.

Like the effects unit the Session 2000 has a memory battery that will leak over time, no exception! If you have one of these amps you need to pull the chassis and make sure the battery has been replaced with a battery-less memory chip. I gutted a Session 2K last year and just turned it into a powered extension speaker for Tommy Dodd. The preamp was beyond repair due to battery leakage

That is some very good advice from Ken Fox. In fact, I would say this is a "must do" more than an option. I have seen several units with the battery in them that had leaked so bad that it made the amp completely unrepairable. This also applies to ALL of these effects procesors such as the Profex, Tubefex, and Transtubefex.

There is a guy out here in NZ who has one of these amps too - I put the batteryless chip in it for him a couple of years ago and it's a great amp!!
