I'm getting a 'wolf' string on string five especially with the A pedal which I think is due to corrosion on the bridge cam (Shobud 6139 made about 76). Now I have noticed it it seems to be overpowering and distracts me on everything I play. Any ideas on how to tame it? I have tried EQ which helps a little. |

On a Sho-Bud it is real easy to push the changer axle out and swap that "finger" (not actually a cam) with one from another string. I would swap with a big fat string; otherwise you would just have the same rpoblem on a different string.
For a more permanent fix you would have to replace the finger, and probably replace all of them. New replacement fingers have problems too, so try to work with what you have if possible. |

Sorry for the beginner question, but . . . what is meant by "wolf string"?

Thanks Ernest, I can see that would work very well. Is it easy to get new fingers as I have a few with corrosion?
John, many instruments like violins have 'wolf' notes which are louder than the others so I highjacked the terminology. |
