How do they compare to Supros and Oahus? I came across one that looks like it's going for pretty cheap. Should I just wait and buy a Supro or Oahu (both I have been really liking too), or are they generally of the same calibre? Harmony steels definitely seem to go for cheaper and I'm not sure if it's just a name thing or if they really are sub-par.

You don't see much information on Harmony lap steels, although they made quite a few of them. The ones I've played have definitely been inferior to similar era Valco-made instruments.

They're cheap for a reason. Just because they're old doesn't mean they're vintage, or collectible.

HARMONY never made a really good steel guitar. The best they could come up with were designed primarily for students or amateurs. I used to sell them when I worked in a music store during the fifties....cheap guitars...nothing exciting about any of them.
