So, I've finally moved on from my Fender/Sho-Bud student guitar to a wonderful MSA Classic.

However, the Sho-Bud had a stiffer, more robust pedal feel, whereas the MSA is a little mushy feeling.

Can someone please point me in the right direction, or is it simply a difference in guitars, and I just need to get used to the pedal action?

Ian, the MSA has two pedal ball locations for each of the pedals.(the round thingie you clip the rod socket on to) If it isn't already, screw the ball into the hole that is closest to your toe. This will give you a slightly shorter leverage and thereby a stiffer pedal feel.

Thanks Bent, it is already in that position.

I was thinking perhaps I can adjust the rods position in the bell cranks, and/or lube the changer, though the knee levers are nice and stiff.

Ian, lubing the changer won't make the pedal action stiffer but easier. Anyway, the changer should be kept clean and slightly lubed no matter what.

Do not change the pull rod location in the bell cranks. This will throw off your pedal timing and -tuning and screw up the pedal travel as well.

I forget now...are there two locations for the pedal rod plate in the pedal crank? If so, make sure that the plate is as close to the cross rod as possible.
When I say the "pedal rod plate" I mean the little steel plate with the hole where you hook your pedal rod into.
