UPDATE
A great venue has been found, see details at this Forum thread:
http://bb.steelguitarforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=181093

I'd like to put on a great teaching seminar, "From the Bedroom to the Bandstand," while spending some time in the Bay Area in late April, but need to find ASAP a suitable and low cost venue.

Looking for a big empty room, decent acoustics a plus, enough space for 10-20 (or more) beginner to intermediate steel students.

Must not have stairs or other loading difficulties. Parking must be free and easy.

Must be very close to San Leandro (i.e., Hayward, Oakland, Alameda, Berkley, Piedmont, Castro Valley, Emeryville, etc.).

Typical prospects:

• restaurant with a banquet room that would like to have a boost to their lunch trade that day

• any lodge with a dance hall/rec room

• senior center rec hall

• civic or library conference room

• church fellowship hall

You get the idea, hopefully.

I am not a non-profit organization, so that can't be a prerequisite.

Please post SPECIFIC ideas here, or send me an email (not a PM, please) with ideas or questions. Contact info and phone numbers for venue managers much appreciated.

Anyone supplying a lead that results in allowing this seminar to happen will get free admission to it. It'll probably be a full day seminar.

I'm also open to requests from Bay Area steelers for other topics to teach, tell me what's on your mind, what you're burning to know.

Thanks!

There is a small music store here in Sacramento which has recently opened. It has steel as a forte and its nest to a couple of restaurants.

Thanks, Gary, can you supply more details: store name, owner, phone number or email? If so, post here, more folks will want to know about a steel guitar store for sure!

Gary, thanks for the Sacto info, I'll get in touch and perhaps arrange to teach a workshop in that area sometime soon.
