I think Bo lost his mind. He's still playing in that crazy band (Grunge is the way I'd describe it) Bo calls it Future Country.
I ask Bo if I could put a recording of my choice on the forum and he said yes as long as it wasn't "Mansion on the Hill".
I said what about an mp3 of this crazy band. He said why not, I'll get a beat down just like everyone else who posts an mp3 on here, so it might as well for something that deserves it.
Here it is! Give the thing time (it sounds as if you player is broke at first)and then it gets better (well maybe the song don't get better just the sound) It's hard to believe that there is PSG on this recording (I wish there wasn't).
After this and you still want more I'll post their version of "Sleepwalk" for an encore.

I like the 12string acoustic at the beginning. Allthough what follows is not my style, I believe those guys can play their instruments. |

Was the steel tuned to ET? I could hear beats in some of the chords. JI would have sweetened it up a little. |

Lee, that ET and JI thing is always good for a laugh.
Iโm sure everyone is dieing to know all the details as to how such a great PSG sound was accomplished.
E9 tuned Straight Up through a HarmonyMan through an old Gallien Krueger 250RL head with the speakers closed off in the bathroom and a direct line from the amp to the board.
I personally liked the sound coming through the bathroom wall the best. |

Great tone... was that a black PP? I love the arrangement. Did I hear a kazoo come in about the 5th bar? Awesome !! |

Actually Harold it was Bo Legg on a Black Sho-Bud and my brother Cody on a Gibson Les Paul Custom. There was no expense spared on this recording. It went over budget. We thought it would be around $95 but it went a little over. |

That's the worst version of "Beyond the Reef" I've ever heard! _________________ Zumsteel U12 8-5, MSA M3 U12 9-7, MSA SS 10-string, 1930 National Resonophonic, Telonics Combo, Webb 614e, Fender Steel King, Mesa Boogie T-Verb. |

Bob, you don't think then that there is any chance for copyright infringement do you?
I know you guys are just afraid that I'll think youโre too pushy if you ask for the 2nd burn on that CD but I promised so here it is "Sleepwalk"

Is that in the same key as the original? I believe Santo played it a bit higher. No! come to think of it, these musicians sounded ALOT higher than Santo and Johnny! _________________ Zumsteel U12 8-5, MSA M3 U12 9-7, MSA SS 10-string, 1930 National Resonophonic, Telonics Combo, Webb 614e, Fender Steel King, Mesa Boogie T-Verb. |

Incredible!! I do love a good ballad. Sleep Walk has never sounded so good. It is almost beyond belief that a black Sho-Bud could sound as good as a black PP. Cudos to the guys. |

You are right!!! I listened again and it is BLACK! I was sure it sounded kinda fake woodgrain color at first, or maybe red (to give them the benefit of the doubt.) But on second listening, I believe you're right. It is a black guitar. _________________ Zumsteel U12 8-5, MSA M3 U12 9-7, MSA SS 10-string, 1930 National Resonophonic, Telonics Combo, Webb 614e, Fender Steel King, Mesa Boogie T-Verb. |

you have to listen closely, very closely. You can't get hung up on the this fantastic arrangement of SleepWalking, because if you do, you might suddenly drift away. The black Sho-Bud has some very subtle parts, and like good wine and cheese must be savored to completely enjoyed. |

There is steel in there but if this needs to be moved to the Humor Section so be it. Then we can get down to more important things like my Emmons is blacker than your Emmons, my Sho-Bud is bigger than your Sho-Bud or nobody but God could have made a P/P
I think Steel Players take themelves much too seriously and I thought folks would enjoy a good laugh at Boโs expense and I would share few recording tricks.
Those Gallien Kruegerโs kick. |

Bo has done a great job of imitating a guitar on the steel.

Is this a joke? I don't hear a steel guitar in that track. |
How can you tell?
Keep 'em comin', Stuart. How about "Way to Survive" next? |

I didn't know this was going to turn out like this.
Here's my side of the story.
My playing in the band is and was only to help Cody change from lead guitar to PSG in his music. There are tracks with the PSG playing power chords mixed with the lead guitar. There are some that there is no steel at all, and I honestly don't want to take time to listen to which is which. I do know that there is no PSG on any tracks of the rides.
My future plans are going to strictly gospel but I don't want to make judgements on my son's choice of music genre.
Cody has a good following with his music and I can't wait to see how it goes with the PSG.
With my other son Stuart helping him I know it will be a speedy transition. Here's Cody's version of "Way to Survive"
