I see that Gina Hendershot has taken all the old rough mixes off the MySpace page and added two newer ones. "Without Sustenance" is kind of an alt-rock/alt-country sort of thing. Some of you might like it. Comments welcome! The link is below. (The WWW one) |

Gary,
I liked this a lot, went to Myspace and heard what was there, you need to tell us more about the songs and songwriting, this is good stuff and a good singer with a good band behind her.

Thanks James. Gina has written at least 20 songs so far and we have been working on an 11 song CD for quite a while. She is married with 2 young children and runs a family business. There is pretty much zero budget for this and between time issues, money constraints, and numerous line up changes it seems to be taking forever but we continue to make headway little by little. Her influences are all over the place. You will hear traditional country influences as well as pop from at least 3 decades, folk, rock R&B and her own somewhat quirky taste in chord and song structure. My personal opinion is that she is a very good songwriter indeed with the potential to become, with time, a great one. She likes having a pedal steel guitar in the mix and I love having the opportunity to take my playing outside the traditional realm where to be honest I am quite comfortable. We have all the rhythm tracks done and I am now recording the steel tracks at home. I have learned a lot so far and I am enjoying the whole experience. I will certainly post the CD release as well as any other rough mixes that get thrown up on MySpace in the meantime. If you enjoyed “Without Sustenance” I think there will be several others you might like as well. Thanks again for the kind words. |
