Known as an outstanding steel guitarists, writer, producer, band/session leader, recording artist, etc., Jerry Byrd was also an exceptional ryhthm guitarist and bassman.
On You Tube, Hank Locklin's "Send Me The Pillow that You Slept on"......will give you a scene that many are unfamiliar with. Now there are several diferent presentations of that song with Hank singing them.
The one to which I refer, has Hank singing with his guitar and the television band behind him. In the left rear corner is one of the tallest and thickest dog-house bass' I've ever seen. |

Some pretty steel in that number. You'd have to be pretty damn good to have JB on bass while you're on steel. _________________ Links to streaming music, websites, YouTube: Links |

This is the sort of country music I love. No-one has that sound nowadays.
With Jerry on bass it begs the question, who was playing steel ? |
