Known as an outstanding steel guitarists, writer, producer, band/session leader, recording artist, etc., Jerry Byrd was also an exceptional ryhthm guitarist and bassman.

On You Tube, Hank Locklin's "Send Me The Pillow that You Slept on"......will give you a scene that many are unfamiliar with. Now there are several diferent presentations of that song with Hank singing them.

The one to which I refer, has Hank singing with his guitar and the television band behind him. In the left rear corner is one of the tallest and thickest dog-house bass' I've ever seen.

Some pretty steel in that number. You'd have to be pretty damn good to have JB on bass while you're on steel.

This is the sort of country music I love. No-one has that sound nowadays.
With Jerry on bass it begs the question, who was playing steel ?
