Not long ago someone was advertising a little wedge the holds the string on the peg for you while you are changing it. Can some one give me his contact info again? I don't have much luck with the search feature here on the Forum.

Danny, a pencil eraser works perfect

Cuts easily to size with a pocket knife, and leaves no marks on your guitar.

When I had had a emmons, I took the spring off of a clothes pin and used one half of it. I little easier to hold on to.

A piece of 5/16 gas line or vacuum line about 2" long works the best I've seen, that's all I use.

Thanks for all the tips and info. I'd just been doing it the hard way without thinking about some kind of device to help.

I have used the rubber handle to a pair of wire cutters or a wooden wedge.
