Hawiian music is what made me want to learn the Steel Guitar. What a cultural loss it is not part of any mainstream music any fore. Thank goodness for U-Tube to keep it alive somewhere.

Marty Robbins' two Hawaiian LPs were close collaborations with Jerry Byrd. They are among the richest, most beautiful Hawaiian albums ever recorded, in my opinion. Many of the songs were written by both of them. I assume that Marty wrote the lyrics and Jerry wrote the music, but I may be wrong.

I think there's a good possibility that the steel player on this YouTube Video is actually Roy Wiggins.

I could, of course, be wrong..........

It's definitely NOT Jerry Byrd.........

I think Ray is right. It's much different from the version on the Hawaii's Calling Me LP. Not as good as Jerry Byrd.

Once I've listened closely to this recording, I too can tell that the steel player is not Jerry Byrd.Smile
