Hi,

I've been playing guitar for many years. I'd like to try playing some lap steel (dobro, 6-string acoustic and electric lap steel).

I was wondering what sort of bar/steel is recommended for a beginner?

Cheers,

Chris

For dobro I'd use a Shubb Pearse SP2 and for six string lap either a Broz O Phonic or a Dunlop 918 Jerry Byrd model bar. The lap steel bars are bullet bars with an indentation on the flat end which makes doing slants a lot easier. the Shubb Pearse SP2 has a flat end for pull off style playin and also a rounded end to make single note playing easier.
