I had the pleasure of meeting Dale Thomas last night when he came to the Stagecoach Ballroom, and sat in with the Sunday night band, The Coachmen.
Our Band consists of Donny Barrow- Bandleader/lead vocals/background vocals* Eddie Morgan- Keyboards* Dixie Hankins- Drums/lead vocals/background vocals* Dayton Tanner-Bass/lead vocals/back ground vocals* Al Mouledous-Fiddle/sound* and myself.
Dixie has known Dale for a long time, and invited him out. He was a pleasure to work with, and plays excellent. We threw him to the wolves, and he clubbed them to death.(that really is a compliment, meaning he handled it just fine.)
He plays a Raines double ten, and is handy on E 9th as well as a great C 6th player. He understands Swing, and Traditional country and was ready to roll when we pointed at him.
He expressed he would like to get some gigs in the Fort Worth area, and I don't think you can go wrong with him. He reads the "Forum" so you can contact him here.
Hey! He even sings, and sings well. He's got a real nice C.D. I enjoyed meeting him, and getting to play with him. Way to go DALE!!

Dale is a great player and can hang with the best of them. And, you're right, he is a really fine singer too and his band in Iowa gets everybody out on the dance floor, without fail. Has he relocated to Texas now? If so, y'all better look out!

The boy can pick. Dale comes to our steel guitar club each year and we really enjoy having him and Carole with us. He really livens up the JAM segment of our meeting. Jody.

Chuck,

Dale has some wonderful CDs out that I love to use on my radio show, "Swingin'West." His daughter also plays some awesome fiddle.

dale thomas can play multi instruments well, and can sing like a bird with feeling, a good family man and tends to understate on his steel. do not be fooled,,he is a good one and his leadership in music is exemplary. besides all that he is one honorable IOWA citizen. dale understands and respects the business as good as any body. when all that fails, he has genuine humility and an uncanny sense of humour. some of us really respect the man. more of us ought to be like dale.

My belated Thanks to all you guys who responded to Chuck's generous post. Yes, I'm in TX for a portion of each year now. I get to hear some great bands . We don't have a lot of fiddlers in Iowa and there are some here that are amazing.

I'm close to daughter Melissa and grandkids, and yes, I hope to do some playing. I'm looking forward to the Dallas show this week. I'm going to play on the Thurs. night portion, pick up a few CDs and head back to the ballrooms of Iowa after
Easter. Dale

Jeff - Melissa is Dale & Carol's daughter - A very talented gal - Check out Dale at Dallas - You never know whether he is going to be playing steel, guitar, trumpet, piano - etc (all very well!!)
He is a great friend and has been an inspiration for a multitude of musicians in the midwest -
Dale has one "nice" problem - He will not tell you how good he is - He just shows you!!!! Shocked

Good Luck Dale & Carol - C Ya when you get back........Ron
