Is the GFI student a pull release or all pull steel?
If it's a pull release, how do you tune the lower changes.. i.e. 4th and 8th and 2nd strings?

John it is a pull release system
See this animated diagram: >> lower and raise on the same string
Translation of the diagram: (look at the green arrows)
For lower Tuning:
1) push the knee lever and tune the lower note with the key at the keyhead.
2) release the knee lever and tune the open note with the nylon nut at the changer

If you have a raise on this string i.e the 4 th and 8th strings:
For raise tuning:
3) push the pedal and tune the raise note with the nylon nut at the changer.(other pull rod and other hole at the finger)

Patrick,
Thank you! I have a student with a GFI student model and I wasn't sure about the tuning process. Thanks, again.
