Bakersfield country was a reaction against the slickly-produced, string orchestra-laden Nashville Sound, which was becoming popular in the late 1950s and early 60s.
"Act Naturally" was a song written by Johnny Russell and Voni Morrison, originally recorded by Buck Owens and the Buckaroos, whose version reached number 1 on the Billboard Country Singles chart in 1963, It was also recorded by The Beatles.
The Bakersfield Sound had a large influence on the West Coast music scene and many small guitar companies set up shop in Bakersfield in the 1960's.
Here, by way of a West Coast contrast to Chuck Lettes' beautiful rendition of an East Coast tune, is "Act Naturally" played on a Charvel Jackson acoustic converted to steel, D maj tuning and a West Coast C6, key of G. From CD "Acquamarina" 2004, backing with permission from MusicMinusOne.

Hi Kay,
Nice job, as usual. Your steel has a very distintive tone, and it works for your arrangement. Keep on pickin'.
