I'm going to Hawaii next Thursday (March 11th) until the 24th. I'll be in Honolulu, Hilo, Kona, and Maui. I'm wondering if anyone knows of good places to go hear Hawaiian steel guitar music, or any steel guitar shops, or any other cool music-related things in Hawaii? Thanks _________________ www.pedalsteel.ca |

Others will chime in here likely, but Thursday evenings at the Marriot in Waikiki has Alan Akaka with the group including Genoa Keave's grand-daughter, Gary Aiko on bass, and another lady on rhythm guitar.
Sunday evenings at the same place,is George Kuo on slack key, Martin Pahinui on slack key, and sometimes Bobby Ingano on steel. Aaron Mahi on base.
Both groups are good music...... |

I just got back home from 8 weeks in Maui and Hawaii Island (the big one). I would suggest if you can find some steel in Honolulu to take it in because it's rare as hens teeth on Maui and Hawaii Island.
Rather sad actually. Lots of slack key and uke though. |
