I know this is a very broad question; but, what is added to "embellish" a standard 3 chord song?

a. inversions
b. 7ths
c. vibrato

I can play melody ok (?), but to get the big, full sound, what do you suggest adding to "embellish" the melody?

Thanks, Tommy

Basically, you are adding notes to the melody that aren't part of the melody.
Say there is a pause or rest in the melody. Stick a lick in there that ties the last note before the pause to the next note in the melody.

Assuming you are playing this melody:

Deep within my heart lies a melody,
A song of old San Antone.
Stick a lick in here instead of a rest:
Where in dreams I live with a memory,
Beneath the stars, all alone.

That same melody can be embellished by replacing each single note with a chord.

I don't know this player but found this example on YouTube:
