This item sold tonight via craigslist.

Vintage 8 String Fender Pedal Steel, has normal wear for the age, but plays and sounds amazing (you can see some aesthetic imperfections in the pics). Includes original case which is in decent shape (not mint or good, but typical wear and tear).

I'm not sure what the shipping on this will be -- it's very heavy. I have the price set at 690 (I won't go lower, as that is a pretty good bargain and I paid for more it than that), but the shipping may bump it up by another hundred bucks (anyone have any ideas on this?).

I've shipped several pedal steel guitars. I always measure the length, width and height of the case, then I add 2" to all the measurements for a box size and add 4-5 lbs for packaging (depending on the size of the box needed). I use these measurements and weight to get a shipping cost online from ups/post office etc. before packing it all up and taking it down there (of course this only works if you have fairly accurate scales).

Usually it works out within a pound or two and within 3-5 bucks on shipping for items this large and heavy. I'd much rather estimate this way than packaging it up only to receive requests for additional photos from a potential buyer.

This works well for me because I don't mind altering a larger box to make it the size I need (gotten pretty good at it). If you're going to have it packed by ups etc., you might check with them for available box sizes...they might even be able to give you an approx. weight of the packaging??? They're fond of their packing services, so it can add a bit more to the bill.

Seems like the last 400 I shipped weighed about 57 lbs..? (total shipping weight).

Hope this helps. - GP

Wow. Had one of those in 1962.

I just shipped an MSA sidekick across the country in a 12x12x36 box. Weighed 43#, $52 US postal Service.

Darnit! if you had posted this three weeks ago I could have bought it. Temporarily out of cash... I need to go sell something! Anyone collect art too? Mr. Green

Guys, thanks for the info about the shipping, this is definitely helpful.
I have a couple of people coming to look at this tonight, so it might sell locally.
