This one didn't do it for me. I loved Stardust and Somewhere Over The Rainbow, but this one sounded to me like he mailed it in. IMHO, buy the Stardust collection or pickup Merle Haggards American songbook project.

YMMV

Y'know, I love Willie as much as the next guy, and I'd be the first one to give him a pass on some of his choices, but Willie singing the standards, who needs it?

While I hear you ! There are some tunes I could have lived without but.. these are the "standards" both the Stardust Cd and this one have timeless classics.
It was some tunes he just always wanted to record and I just like his style.
I learned a lot of music by learning these tunes.

I was only referring to the "American Classic" CD. I have not heard the other one.
