Does anyone ever recall seeing machined round knee levers on a pedal steel, or am I dreaming it??? Any info would help thanks...

My mid 90's Remington S10LG has machined round knee levers about 3/4 inch diameter. Totally unbreakable.

Thanks!!! I am going to try to look up the specs on those and perhaps have them machined for my Zum/StageOne.

| fwiw, Some guys use plastic tubing that is the right diameter to slide snugly over their exisitng knee levers to make them round. |

The Rem I added KL's to had 1/2" round knee levers. Nothing special about them. I just went to the hdwe. store and bought some alum. round stock. The actual area where they mounted in the KL hub was 3/16". Depending on how they mount on your Stage One, you can probably grind a flat[s] where they mount to the KL hub/fork. File and sand out the marks, finish and bevel the lower end, polish and you're done.
If it were me and there wasn't time, tools and place to do it, I'd probably check with Doug Earnest. He knows how they mount and could probably build you some.
FWIW, they looked pretty good, but weren't very comfortable to play. All the leg contact is concentrated on the smallest area of the radius. YMMV. |

Thank everyone for the replies and advice. I was lucky enough to have an old friend who runs a machine shop. I guess its time for him to return some favors!! LOLOLOL
I kinda like the idea of using PVC or PEX pipe if I can get close to the right diameter. Doug has been OUTSTANDING in his help on making other changes to my StageOne. I must go and meet him down in Branson sometime soon...

| Way back in the 1970's I owned a Domland pedal steel which I bought through Don Edwards in Denver Colorado and it had round knee levers . They screwed onto a bolt through the cross shafts and had to be removed when the guitar was torn down to be transported. That old guitar is still around and is owned by a friend of mine. (a collector's item) It is a D10 with ten pedals and 8 knee levers. |
