Im in need of a second Fener Steel King amp and no one here in Australia seems to be able to get hold of one? Im getting told they are discontinued ect so i thought of getting one sent over from the US but need to know, Can a 110 v be converted to 240v with not to much trouble and, not to much cost?

Don't try to convert the amp. Get a step-down transformer to convert 240v to 110v.

As described in my recent thread http://bb.steelguitarforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=178051 such a conversion may be difficult to do. By all means, it's probably not just about replacing the transformer. I waited for my converted amp for over 6 years, although I must say that the engineer that did it is presumably the procrastination world champion...

Hans
I had an electronics engineer in the UK replace a mains transformer in my Webb amp from 110v to 240v. However, some of the components needed to be changed (upgraded) to accomodate the different mains voltage.

They sell the Steel King 240v in Norway and probably many other european countries. Most likely more expensive but you can claim the VAT back.

It's good to know then that there is the know-how for the conversion of a Webb amp, too. Thanks for the info.

Paul I have a NV1000 but I just use a portable 110-240 transformer - the downside is that you might forget to take it one day ! I haven't found anyone on this side of the ditch who could do the conversion job yet.
