One of the first songs I've heard with a steel in it, was Fairy Tale by the Pointer Sisters. I have searched UTube and I found this... to bad it ends so soon because right after the piano solo is the steel solo, but I still think it's interesting, that they had a steel player.

I think Weldon Myrick played on the record,Not sure if they had a touring steel player.

I'm sorry, you are both right. It was Weldon Myrick.

The album is called That's A Plenty.
What amazed me is that in this fairly recent performance (from 2009) they also had a steel player.

i just lately saw that they are doing a show in tunica as we speak or sometime real soon or maybe lately.
i believe there are 2 surviving original sisters in the act.
