Hello,
This is (short notice) to let everyone know Curtis Potter will be attending the Dallas show this year. He is planning to sing on my set at 7:30 p.m., Saturday night. He will likely be asked by other performers to sing with them as well.
We will be releasing Curtis' new CD, "Walking on New Grass" this weekend. I think you all are going to like it. It is great hard-core Country and Western Swing with lots of fiddles and steel. Curtis is singing better that ever!
The musicianship is superb and features Bobby Flores on fiddles and guitars, Randy Reinhard on piano, Bob Moore and my brother John on bass, Levi Mullen on guitar and yours truly on steel and drums.
For those interested in the CD who are not able to attend the show, you can see a listing of the songs at www.startexrecords.com. Of course, you can order it at the website as well.
I am looking forward to seeing everyone in Dallas.
Best wishes,
Jim |

This is an album that I am very proud to be on. Jim did an excellent job producing it and Curtis sang his tail off! This is the kind of vocal performance we all hope to capture in the studio and Curtis nailed this one on the head! It's him at his best and I am honored to be a part of it.
Jim got one of the best steel tones on this CD I've ever heard recorded and is getting it live as well. His playing is absolutely incredible and I know you'll agree when you hear it. Top shelf material!
Hats off also to Justin Trevino for doing his usual outstanding job of recording there at his studio, JT Soundlabs in San Marcos.

Thanks to the folks who helped Jim move a fair number of CD's. I had a blast sitting there with Curtis's wife

I must add my two cents worth to this. First off, Curtis Potter is my favorite singer of all time. I feel like I probably over do it when I am telling him and others how I feel, but I sincerely mean it is why I say it. I have a reputation as being outspoken when things aren't right, but on the other hand when they are great, I can't hold it in. Anyhow I bought the new album and played it in my car driving home and it is as I expected, great! Also, I must mention, Jim's great steel guitar playing. I have been a fan of Jim's since the first Texas show I heard him play at several years ago. He is a master of both necks, having all the things I listen for, such as: taste, touch, tone and soul. Also, all the other players on the album are tremendous. I'm hoping Jim and Curtis will be in St. Louis this year. The only thing I can say negative about this is that I'm jealous that Curtis wasn't at the Dallas show on Friday night so I could have him sit in on my set.
