In this photo I am playing through a Peavey Nashville 400 modded by John LeMay. I have owned this amp since 1982 and it has never come alive like it has with this guitar. I am currently using a ProFex 2 for delay and reverb although I have a Lexicon MX 400 in Nashville and much prefer the effects on it.

Forum member Andy Zahnd recorded audio of this particular night and the sound of this guitar coming off the bandstand (not a board mix) is astounding. I wish I had a file hosting service to upload a few MP3s so all could hear it. Send me a private email and I can email MP3s samples of the guitar.

"Now, if I could just learn to smile when I play."

Years ago, being disturbed watching other players frowning while playing, I determined that I would smile. So I practiced it; whenever I was practicing at home, I made sure I had a big smile pasted on my face, even if I was frustrated trying to learn something.

It paid dividends. Not only do I smile on stage, but smiling while practicing creates the attitude of acceptance which makes practice more productive. It gives me confidence, and mistakes become discoveries rather than failures.[/quote]

Rich, thanks for sharing. At one time I did try and concentrate on smiling while playing. But most of the time I get so engrossed trying to execute things correctly that I tend to forget about the importance of facial structure. Smile

The following web link will allow anyone to download a zip file containing 3 MP3s recorded the very first gig with the Rittenberry (same night as the above playing pics). The link is good for 7 days or 100 downloads. If someone tries to download past these limitations, let me know and I will re-upload.

Night Life was recorded at a really good level, so you will hear the true nature of the guitar on this track. I think the recording level was reduced after this song, so even though "Too Cold At Home" is at a lower setting, you will still hear the guitar cutting through. The Blues solo was using a chorus which was slightly muddied. Again, this is not a board mix, directly from the side of the stage.

Hey Joe; That is a pretty Guitar. Couldn't help but notice the red fingerpicks in the first photo. I have some pretty blue ones now that'll match your steel. Smile I call them the Hal Higgins picks cause he first asked for them. Very Happy .Love your axe. Andy H.

Andy, it may only be the lighting or the flash that made the picks look red. Actually they are those Perfect Touch fingerpicks. I went through a 3 month love/hate relationship with them until I maneuvered them to where they work for me. I now love them. Super comfortable and a great tone out of them.

Terry, yes I did have a BIG smile on the inside the whole night. Very Happy

Tootie, it's about time for another jam!!

Smile hey Joe
I'm pretty proud to record that stuff! I'm so surprised about the quality! But I have to say, because I heard your new Rittenberry live.... the recording is not coming close to the sound I heard at this gig.... a 1000 times better sounding... I'm so surprised about the stringseperations in chords... I never ever heard that like this. The cristal clear, bell-like highs, the fat lows and the midrange... that never sounded mushi... muddy... ove rall... this is the best sounding steel I ever heard with my personal ears!!! This new Rittenberry desing is a absolut winner! And since I was sitting behind yours, I like to have one real bad for myself! Who gives me the bucks? Oh Well Wink Embarassed
