I learned this in 1980 or so from a tape from Mr Franklin that he did in 1978 or 1979. I was going thru some old stuff and ran across a cassette from a band I was in I guess about 1981. I was playing this tune. The cassette was about shot but I could hear how I was playing Lonely Street that I learned from Mr Franklin. I hope he reconizes some of the licks.

Of course it is not as good as him but here it is"

Good job; another great version of this is on Christine Mims CD, "Perfect For A Rainy Day", and Randy Reinhart's backing Christine on this song. This can be found at, www.yellowroserecords.com. Thank you again.

I like those licks too. It's nice of William to give credit to Paul for them. I really like the ones on the chorus. I'd like to hear Paul's recording too. Smile

It was so long ago and the cassette I was listening to was not to good. I was playing that from memory. I think it was pretty close to how he taught it and I learned it. I think he and I both were a little younger then for sure. 25 or 30 years anyway!

William,

Nice rendition......Thanks for reminding me of an old friend......I first heard Day play this song when I was in my teens. The song has a great melody line.

That is a fine job on one of my favorite songs! I would like to learn some of that.

Thanks Doug. That is a great song.

Thank you Mr Franklin , I apprecicate you taking the time to listen to it. That was a long time ago for sure. I don't remember Mr Day playing that but I sure remember you doing it. I have loved it since and tried to play it thru the years when I could ,not that I do it justice. Thank you Sir......William Litaker
