I'm selling my Emmons LeGrande II SD10. I'm not playing as much E9 these days and will consider trades for a D10 or a single neck set up for C6. <strike> $2150 + shipping </strike> $2000, shipping included in CONUS.
Standard Emmons setup, with the Es on the left KLs.
The 14-hole bellcranks that folks like.
Overall, it's cosmetically sharp. There's some scuffing here that you can see if the light is right, though.
Dings on the endplate. I haven't tried to polish them out. Overall the metal parts are good and shiny.
The paint inside the keyhead seems to be coming off. The same thing is happening inside the pedal bar. I wonder if this was non-factory paint, not meant to stick to aluminum? Not something you notice without closely looking over the guitar.

I forgot to mention: comes with a case, which is a little worn looking but totally solid and functional.
Also, I had a question about if this was a conversion from a D10. I believe it's a factory SD10, and that at the time it was built Emmons was using D10 endplates for their SD10s. This saves a little weight.
I'm particularly interested in trading for a newer D10. I already have a couple nice old push-pulls and I want to try out C6 on something modern. |

I have been watching your guitar on the forum. I am looking for a SD 10 Emmons, but I have a couple of questions.
I counted 4 knee levers. Is that correct, or am I missing one?
I do not see a compensator on that guitar. Do you notice a cabinet drop?

Yep, it has 3 + 4. I suppose I should have mentioned that in my initial post.
It doesn't have any sort of compensator mechanism. There is definitely some cabinet drop if you look for it - about the same as on my push-pulls, I'd say, and less than some other steels I've had - but it isn't something I've noticed when playing. It's a real nice sounding axe.

Hey guys, this a a super steel with a great price.

I have a Lashley Lagrande that has a serial number of 1310L. Any idea of the year of this guitar?
I am guessing it is a 85?

Where's the serial number on an Emmons LeGrande? I'm not sure where to look for it. The pickup says '93 on the underside. |

Hi Justin,
Usually the S/N is stamped on the underside of the
tuner end plate in small numbers. The LeGrande's have
the letter L after the numbers. Some of them will have
the S/N stamped on the LKR mounting bracket instead
of being on the end plate. Don't know why they did that.

I think 1985 is very close for yours. I had a LeGrande II
last year that I sold, and the S/N was 1612 L, built in 1989.
It had such nice easy pedal action. Hope this helps a bit.

Hey Justin, you said this is an Emmons Legrande II?
I didn't see the Legrande II on the front apron is the reason I was asking. Also, serial# 1088L , so about what year would that make this guitar? I have an Emmons Legrande II D-10 and I'm looking for an SD-10 for a 2nd guitar. Thanks

You are observant, Terry.
When I got it, there was a LeGrande II sticker that was coming off the front apron. I couldn't get it to stick back down, so I yanked it off. I think Emmons sells replacement stickers. But I thought it looked sharp without it and never bothered getting one. In terms of the year, I'm not sure. Anyone know how to date a LeGrande with the serial number? |
