Been playing this one for a while. I'll eventually get it right.

Sounds good, Andy. "The Lonely Bull" brings back a lot of memories.

Very nice medley, well played too. Perhaps I should start a new thread, but does anyone else get a bar hand cramp while playing if they've had more than two cups of coffee, aside from me?

Thanks guys, appreciate the encouragement though it's not my best for performance (behind the bar bends a little flat and overall kinda rushed & twitchy, I think) but I do like my arrangement and the two tunes seem to work well together.

A while back I did another arrangement of Lineman based on Johnny A's voicings (see below) version but there were a couple of places where the blocking seemed to kill the ringy, twangy vibe I wanted. Not steel guitar, I realize, but here's Johnny great, tasteful version of lineman in the key of C ...

Here's a cool lap stel take from Friends of Dean Martinez:

Might try to re-arrange this again in another tuning instead of open D.

Tony, never heard of hand cramps due to caffeine but a quick web check gave up a link from Merck's site saying that caffeine can cause muscle cramps.

I think it's good to post clips of your playing now and then to get feedback from different ears. Alot of musicians, myself included, have a tendancy to find "flaws" in their own playing, where others don't hear them.
In some ways, I think this is good, as it helps to keep the person moving forward. Just as long as you don't self critique yourself right out of wanting to play. Smile
One last thing, it's great in wanting to emulate other instruments. I've really been digging The Four Freshmen lately. Their harmonies sound like a nice steel guitar. Also, thanks for the tip about cramping.

Nothing easy about trying to pull that tune off, that's for sure. I hear you changed the chords around, which is fine to do--otherwise I think you'd have to get really creative with a tuning that will enable you to get the melody notes and bass notes. Keep chipping away at it, I think it will continue to evolve.

I'm back on coffee after a one week hiatus. Life without caffeine was as boring as decaffeinated coffee.
