Thanks Lefty, Craig and Dale and the audio crew for another great weekend. Great pickers and comraderie. It gets bigger and better every year. And Keith Hilton... two reasons I'm sorry you were sick and couldn't make it to the jam: 1) missed your playing. 2) caused me to follow John Hughey !! Now get well.
Dale "ByGod" Hopkins had a great time. He couldn't believe how friendly everyone was, and how that many good pickers can get together and get along so well. He said, "steel players are a seperate class of musicians." ?? Maybe because we struggle together??

On behalf of Craig and Dale, we want to express appreciation to all who made this a memorable weekend at the NE IA Steel Guitar Jam in Waterloo! The popularity of this event continues to grow each year due to the support from all who attend. In particular, the sets by John Hughey were absolutely AWESOME--and we plan to have John with us in the near future! See y'all next year at the NE Iowa Jam in February 2004! Til later...Lefty

The Iowa Jam is a very well organized jam that includes the labor of not only Lefty, Craig and Dale, but also their wives...and children . The effort of these hard-working people brought in a full house at a large ballroom, but at the same time an attitude of friendship between musicians and non-musicians alike has developed. Great job guys.

Another great jam. It is fantastic the way this jam has grown over the years. Despite some no-shows due to illness, everything flowed very smoothly. Fantastic players and people. Thanks to all of my "local" heroes for their encouragement. The medical community shares a philosophy that I have also found in the steel community: "Share The Knowledge" You won't find a better class of sharing than at NEISGJ. Looking forward to next year!

I would also like to thank everbody that played and just came to listen. Also a great big thanks to Lefty and Dale for letting me help put it together for 11 years. They will still keep doing it, but I will just be concentrating on my Wisconsin Jam. My spot will be in the capable hands of Kirk Dighton. It was a nice jam to go out on. A big crowd and tremendous music. Thanks again everyone!

I also had fun at the steel jam. It can be kind of boring only sitting at the sales table but it can also be fun. After being at every single one since it first started, it starts to get to ya but it is always fun to see your favorite steel players and the new ones too. Cassandra

Dale Hopkins asked that I forward this note from him:
"Just a note to thank the crew and house band at the steel jam in Waterloo. What a great time. This was my first convention/jam and I've got to tell you, steel guitar players are not like alot of musicians. They actually want to help other steel players. I liked the fact that the attitudes were left outside, if there were any to be left. A special thanks to the folks that hosted it and to Mark Kelchen, Eddie Lange, Lefty Schrage, Devere Adamson, Dan Hedlund, Bill McRoberts, Curtis Kloft, Kirk Dighton, Glenn Runnels, Roger Miller, Dusty Cadey, Tom Pickett Sr & Jr, Ron Pedersen and his wife for hosting the sunday morning party in their motel room and other players and acquaintances. And a special thanks to Jeanne Morrissey and her brother Dennis Detweiler (we just call him F# minor because he plays it so well) ?? And to Buzz Detweiler for giving me my first steel guitar. I hope to see you all and get the chance to pick with you again. You're true professionals"

Yes! Once again thanks to ALL who attended and especially the guys responsible for making it all happen every year. Special thanks also to you guys allowing an inexperience player like myself the opportunity to play there. And the help you ALL give to us learners is commendable! Your friendships are of the best in the world. It is rare this day and age that a group of folks can all get along and enjoy the same interests. Lefty made a comment last year that the steel guitar is a "love-hate" relationship. The steel can get your goat about as fast as anything out there, but we continue to persue it. What a great instrument and especially the guys who all help one another with it. Once again, thanks for a great time and don't forget the "Udder Jam" hosted by Craig Davidson in Wisc Rapids where I'm sure you will enjoy yet another weekend of this great instrument and some of the finest pickers there are. Yes, Dale By God Hopkins is looking forward to the next time we can all get together. We all are.

To all; I would like to thank Lefty, Dale and Craig for allowing me to be host this year. Secondly, many thanks to all the musicians for making me feel welcomed and part of your terrific Steel guitar Jam. If it wasn't for you great musicians, Roger and I don't know what we would do without you nice people. I thought it was about time I get on here, along with Rog. Many thanks again for allowing me to come into your lives. Your friend always; Kathy Miller (Roger Millers wife)

Kathy was the perfect host! Great smile and pleasant to everyone, even me! Barb and Linda and Susie worked extremely hard as well to keep everything flowing smoothly. Kim and I are honored to be a part of the planning committee for NEISGJ next year. You just can't beat the great people at this jam.
Before I forget, How about Mark Krutke and Harbor Lighthouse on Sunday morning for the church service? Man, what a great group!!! Hope they come back next year.
Well,,,Back to practicing.
