I love the song, it's represents how I feel about country music, but let's be honest with ourselves. Justin's no longer with us, so we don't know what he'd do now. David McCormick runs the ET Record shop, and I believe you can pick up a copy of any of the top 40 country CD's there. It's a business and if you let your personal likes and dislikes about the music get in the way, you'll starve to death. If you're not willing to go with the flow, you should not depend on music to put the bread of the table. As much as I'm stuck to my preferences in the music I listen to, I don't blame anyone for doing what they have to do to keep their business healthy. David seems to be dedicated to keeping traditional country in the mainstream of his business, as is evident in the acts he books at the Midnight Jamboree, but he won't cut his nose off to spite his face by not selling the latest hits. It seems like a good balance to me.

I hate the 'modern crap' too, but I don't listen to it and then complain about it later. 
If I want to hear good country music I know where to look for it.

In the Wild Country Music Player at http://www.wildcountryband.net/index.html there's a song called "Back When ET Was Still Around" written and sung by Dave Lindsey, with humble self playing Hawaiian (get it?) pedal steel guitar. McCormick plays this in the theater before the Midnight Jamboree starts.

Joe,
It's nice to see you back around. I was getting worried about you. I agree, I liked Justin's much better than his dad's too. I think that song was recorded in the late seventies.
The song is not throwing off on new country, it's just taking a strong stand for the real country music. I have a hard time with people confusing where I stand on the issue. I'm not against everyone doing their own thing, singing what they want, and of course making money with it. My biggest concern is that they are replacing country with rock/pop music, and calling it country. I just wish they'd give it it's own name, and leave country the hell alone.

Art Gibson did an appropriate tune way back in the 1950's entitled "No More Records in the Store". Talks about Victrolas and other historical stuff for which there'd be no records to play on them.
