I got an email this morning from a journalist friend of mine, Dan Forte, who said he received some unsolicited CDs from Bobbe. Dan was unfamiliar with him and asked if I knew the man.
Well, of course I said I did and filled him in on some background for Bobbester. Then I suggested he go to Bobbe's website for more info, though I hadn't been there in a long time myownself. So I went there.
Bobbe is promoting his new album on that site and you can listen to every cut. I urge the Forum to do so, because there's some of the loveliest steel playing and arrangements, with strings and horns, I've heard in a long time. And way cool comments on the songs themselves.
Beautiful melodies and funky rhythms spring forth like a gushing stream! Listen to some of this stuff!
Bobbester is unaware of this post; I just had to say something because it's really good music for an early Tuesday morning. _________________ My rig: Infinity and Telonics.
Son, we live in a world with walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with steel guitars. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinberg? |

Mr.Seymour is my FAVORITE picker. He can take a tune that has been beat to death, put that Seymour TOUCH to it and bring it back to life. No DOUBT about it. Totally agree........Mr. Seymour is a "Master" player and is as unique as they come.
From non-pedal, PSG, Etc., Bobbe's mind always delivers fantastic musicality and a gorgeous playing style second to none........his music always works!!!

Bobbe is truly one of a kind with many, many interests and hobbies. I think if he hadn't become a master of the steel, he would have made a great stand-up comedian. |

That is definitely no lie. Get the whole catalog here - http://www.steelguitar.net/cds.html
They're all great, but I particularly love "As Time Goes By", where he and the band run through some great standards, with everybody stylin' and profilin' all the way through. All the tunes are listed on the website, some of the greatest ever written, to my tastes. |

When traveling, I often put on Bobbe's streaming tunes when I get back to the hotel (and they have internet service). They lull me to sleep in the wee hours after a loud night of club playing. Excellent rhythms, arrangements, and of course chops! _________________ Jackson Steel Guitars

Rythmatic is the best produced steel album of all time - period. Bobbe never skimps on the production of any of his albums. You won't hear any drum machines or programmed backing where he is concerned, just great musicians who need to be paid. His albums are very diverse too, which just goes to show that he is not a one trick pony. He can play it all. _________________ Show Pro D10 - amber (8+6), MSA D10 Legend XL Signature - redburst (9+6), Sho-Bud Pro 111 Custom (8+6), Emmons black Push-Pull D10 (8+5), Zum D10 (8x8), Hudson pedal resonator. Count me in as a fan also. I think I have all of his recordings and I ain't found one yet that I did not like. They are all expertly produced, mixed and result in pure music that will sound good on any system. He really fusses over his recordings and the attention to detail really shows.
Thanks Bobbe and my compliments to Skip Mitchell!

Bobbe did some great playing on Rob Parkers sessions.
Great country music with Bobbe's far reaching, tasteful style. Rob don't sing bad for a big guy. If you don't have 'em get 'em. |

An apology, kinda...
I just had a thought that, in retrospect, some here might feel that I'm try to promote Bobbe's album sales by my inital post. If I did do that it was completely naive and unintended. Really, I just much enjoyed the music that morning and wanted to share it. Bobbe had no idea I was gonna write about it. _________________ My rig: Infinity and Telonics.

Mr. Steiner,
Your integrity is absolutly without question!! No foul, no harm.
However, your "abundance mentality" sharing the information to forumites for inspection is cheerfully appreciated. Thank you for same!!
The pleasure in hearing Steel Guitar and the music played by the Bobster is all ours. I already have 3 or four of Mr. Seymour's CD's that I treasure. Now, I just heard this "Rythmatic" CD.....outstanding, have to have it....
However, in the end, I too have to agree with Ben Lawson's astute observation in that, "Mr. Seymour is lacking a Sense of humour",.......Bobster, please, can you Cheer up!! TX
Rgds,
Ron |
