Here's a few pictures that maybe some will enjoy seeing. It was 1988 and I think in Dallas at convention. That year it was held in the Clarion off I-35 across from the World Trade Building. Love that John Deere Guitar

Tony, That may have been an EMCI. I saw Buddy playing one at a seminar in Mesquite,Texas. It is hard to believe that three of those guys have gone on. |

I believe that is an EMCI. Here is another pic of just Buddy. The sign on the right side after I blew it up is Buddy's signature. I also believe that the John Deere 210 Jeff is playing is an MSA.

The guitar E is playing is indeed a one-of-a-kind EMCI which was custom made for him by John Birkhead. It featured gold plated metal parts w/filligree engraving throughout, and switchable front apron mica pieces; one is the Texas motif pictured, another had a TNN logo on, I believe, a white background w/pinstriping. There may have been another one or two of those front pieces as well. Very ornate and eye-catching. And it sounded like it looked

The guitar Jeff is playing is not an MSA. After looking really, really close I do believe it is a Zumsteel. First clue is the aluminum necks and the way they are cut and the shape and color of the knee levers.
As far as the EMCI goes, The first time I saw Buddy play live he wasn't playing this guitar but the rosewood "Christmas Sounds" guitar and man how he made that thing sing. _________________ Zumsteel steel guitars, Telonics and Peavey amplifiers, GHS strings. |

I agree, Mike. I'm only going by the sharp angles evident on the aluminium neck - I've only ever seen those on Zums.
BS - that was pretty funny; I had the same thought myself... _________________ Roger Rettig: Emmons D10, B-bender Teles, Martins, and a Gibson Super 400!
