The 3rd Sunday of the month – Januray 17th– is coming up VERY fast. The North Florida Steel Guitar Club (NFSGC) will hold its regular monthly meeting/concert SUNDAY, January 17th. The location is Moose Lodge 2020, located at 5051 Collins Road, Orange Park, FL 32073.
Start time for the instructional period is 230pm sharp. There will be a brief pedal steel lesson by a club member, so bring your digital recorders, cassette recorders, etc., to "take notes", either audio or video. The concert portion begins at 300pm. There are still a slots available, if you would like to play on the concert portion. Contact Lonnie Portwood and ‘sign up’ for a playing slot. We would love to hear a variety of players.

The Moose Club kitchen will be in operation, so those great burgers, etc., will be available. The NFSGC meeting/concert is OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. There is no admission charge to attend the meeting/concert, so bring the family, come on out, have fun and listen to some fine steel guitar music.

John L.

Ernie,

That is a picture of a great little Sho Bud (Pro 1, I think?) that I sold for the widow of a fellow musician here in Jacksonville. It was a couple of years ago, and I cleaned and adjusted this jewel, then was able to sell it for her. Great tone, but I had 2 psg's at the time, and let it get away.

I happen to think that the Sho Bud logo and the rope inlay are "classic beauties", so I included the pic in the announcement for this month's NFSGC Meeting.

Hey, the meeting is in just 3 MORE DAYS. As you know, at a given meeting, one might see a Sho Bud, an Emmons, a Williams, a GFI, a Carter, a Magnum, a Fulawka, etc.

See you at the show,
John L.

You will enjoy this one, one of the best backup bands around, John on bass, Lonnie on Lead guitar or chuck Haney, and Keith Portwood on drums. Pluss many other players. Lots of great singers to sing with you. A ole Chet Gibson is a joy to just watch play.

I think this was the best, all played top notch, the crowd sure enjoyed it, we need more people to come out from Jacksonville and see what is going on here. There was some of the best country vocals could ever want to hear, the backup band is second to none. Keith Portwood on drums, Lonnie on lead, Ken Fox also on lead, John Le Master out did him self as usual, Art played his own creation guitar a D 8, Conyer was good also, slow start but got it together as I knew he would. They were really blest I did not play today, just enjoyed the show. CHET WHERE were
U, on the road I bet.
