I know this is an old issue, but I couldn't find a comparison around here.
I'm buying one of these two volume pedals.
The GOODRICH MODEL 120 or the GOODRICH MODEL H-10K. I want to master (what i would call) the organ background swell sound used while backing a singing. You know, that technique where we hide the attack.
Any reason why one of those pedals is better over the other?
Thanks |

The 120 is a standard pot type volume pedal. The 10K models require a 9V battery and have a built in impedence matching circut (similar to a Goodrich Matchbox) and the volume is controlled by the gain through the electronics.
My preference between these two would be the 120 pedal as the 10K model can "color" the sound slightly. |

I bought a used 250 off the forum and when it arrived it was actually an H10K. It still uses a pot, but the signal is buffered with about a 3dB boost and you can use different values of pots without (in theory) changing the tone.
So if you like the way the tone changes with a 250 you might not like the H10K. |

Thanks guys!
I think I'll start with the 120. |

i disagree..my favorite all time pedal is my L10K (just lower profile case than the H10K). truest clear sound for playing and recording. electronics just change the high impedance line level to low impedance. less coloring of tone, clearer, truer, cleaner sound. almost never change a battery. |

I'm feeling a case of confusion comin on.
What does the lower profile case offer that the H model doesn't?
BTW: The L-10K is not available at Elderly, yet the other two are. Is there something I'm missing here? |

gary, the L designation is just that the height of the pedal is a little lower (closer to the floor). any of these pedals would be good. the 120 is a very common widely used pedal. everyone seems to be fine with it. i like the 10k personally but could be happy with the other also. if i were in your position, i'd probably see what i could get cheapest..and a used one would be just as good. they don't really wear out aside from the potentiometers which are inexpensive to replace. check the for sale part of the forum regularly. i got mine new from Frenchy's for as good a deal new as possible...or tom bradshaw..also the best deal around. these suppliers are in the links to the forum. |

I second the suggestion to buy from Tom Bradshaw if you can't find something used. He will take good care of you. |
