I am purchasing a new steel and having it raised and I am curious about how much clearance I need. I have an S10 3X4 now, and i barely fit under it at 6'4" but with no LV lever It hasn't been a real issue. From the bottom of the middle of my heel to the the top of my knee when sitting and my leg at 90 degress is 24 1/2" how much clearance do I need between my knee and the LV lever?
Thanks! |

I don't know if you need any clearance at all.
The way I like my LKV is to just be able to clear it with my leg..actually I feel the pants rub the KL. The lower you can have it to your leg the better. That way it requires less movement. The KL should also be adjustable on the height _________________ BenRom Pedal Steel Guitars

I'm a little less than your height, but have long lower legs. I can barely squeak under a 3+4 set up at standard height. With a vertical, I routinely require a 2" lift. I could probably get away with 1-1/2", but those would be hard to come by. Hope this helps.

6' 4" here. If a guitar has a LKV, I need a 2" lift on it or else that change pops up at unexpected times. If there's no vertical lever, a 1" lift works but it's a tight fit. |

I think that it depends on the guitar. I am about 6'3". I have raised a Sho-Bud 1-1/2" to fit and have only raised my Rains 3/4". They both have vertical levers, but my problem was more about clearance with my foot on the VP. _________________ Bad wine is better than no wine. |
