What is the best recorder for recording meetings in a large room. 3 hours recording time, built in mic and ability to transfer to MP3? $150 budget. Thanks for any advice.

Hey Robert, I would say Zoom H2, easy to use, under $150 and approx 5 hours record time with two AA batteries. PLUS, it has all those other great features. USB , SD card and selectable record formats to keep the file size small.

The Zoom H2 would be a good, low-cost option. Placement is really the key to getting a good sound...try to get as close to the speaking parties as possible to maximize intelligibility.

You may also want to try plugging one of those Crown PZM mics into a Zoom or similar recorder - they are designed for your application. PZM mics work by treating whatever surface you put them on - in your case, probably a meeting room table - as a giant microphone element.

Thanks guys. That's the ticket. We don't need all the features but it has the best mic to pick up speeches in a large room. Thanks again - hadn't seen the Zoom H2.
