I have a VHS/DVD recorder that I can copy VHS to DVD in a DVD-R format only. Question : What computer program is the fastest to use to make a copy of that DVD in my computer ? Most of them take a very long time, almost real time. How do I go about it in the most efficient way--do I rip and then burn to another DVD or save and go that route or what. Thanks.

Looks like this DVD Ripper is what you want, if you don't want to rip it to the hard drive.

If you can find a copy of "DVD Shrink" that will do what you want. It will "rip" the DVD and then allow you to make copies without having to copy it each time. The company that made DVD Shrink is no longer in business so finding a copy may be a problem, as DVD Shrink will allow you to make an "archive" copy of commercial copy protected DVD's.

The PC won't care whether the DVD is a DVD-R or a DVD+ as that is only a concern for burning if the DVD burner you want to use will only burn one of those two types.
