I'll be in Anaheim for the NAMM show and was wondering if there's any bands with steel players in the area.

You're in luck. Deke Dickerson's Guitar Geek Festival this year features a "History of the Steel Guitar" program with Norm Hamlet, Duke Ching, Jeremy Wakefield, Dave Berzansky, Pat Quilter and Chas Smith.
