I just got a 2004 Imac and I have a problem connecting to AOL, my Internet provider. I get a dial up to AOL just fine, but then it doesn't connect. I get a message "Authentication failed." Does anybody know how I can solve this on my own or do I need to contact AOL?

When using a dial-up network connection keep these things in mind:

It is a PPP connection

You need your user name

You need your password

The modem's connect speed must be adjusted downwards sometimes to correct for bad line conditions.

You may need to install an AOL for Mac software package, for your version of Mac, to obtain a connection. If such an item exists, you may have to request it to be mailed to you.

You should call AOL support on this issue.

Contacted AOL. They are sending me a disc to install AOL on my computer.
So, problem solved. Please close this thread.
