I am a non pedal player looking to switch to pedal steel. I have a question. First, most of my nonpedal experience is with the 8 string C6 or A6 tuning.
Is it possible to get a single neck pedal steel with C6 tuning? Most of the C6 instruments I see are the back neck of a double neck instrument.
I also would like to buy an 8 string instrument.
Any ideas out there? _________________ "Shoot low boys, the're ridin' Shetlands" |

Rains has a new steel on the market with a non-pedal back neck and a standard E9 neck with pedals on the front.

I recently bought a S-8 Desert Rose with a D6th copedent. It wasn't cheap, as many of the parts had to be custom machined, but it's a fine instrument. I'm sure that Chuck Back (the builder) would be happy to configure an S-10 as a C6th. _________________ -𝕓𝕆𝕓- (admin) - Robert P. Lee - Recordings - Breathe - D6th - Video |

There are several makers out there so shop around . If you have a steel guitar shop close to you go and try out what they have and don't be afraid to ask questions . |

If you're looking for a single-neck pedal steel with 8 strings, you might think about an old Fender 400. They're easy as pie to set up for whatever tuning you like, they sound great, and they're usually quite inexpensive. |

Just an idea for you, get a used S-10, take 2 strings off, set up the pedals & KL's with c6th changes and your off and running with an 8 string C6 guitar that would be easy to sell if you moved on later or decided you didn't like pedals after all.
