Has anyone found a good sounding dual function stomp box to handle reverb and delay, or is a rack unit the best option?

Roger,
There are a lot of steelers using the Boss RV-3.
That's a combination reverb/delay unit.

Podxt. If you're considering a rack mount, you might as well. Not the Pod 2.0 as the reverb sucks.

I thought the Rv3 was obsolete. Mine was noisy, and became microphonic after a while. Dunno why. Tried a PV Deltafex, and it sucked.

Just a thought. They probably have a good reverb delay pedal out there, I just haven't kept up with them.

[Eric, Can I have your broken RV3?]

Here is the RV3 nock-off. I haven't tried one yet, but if I see one I might pick it up and A/B it with my RV3's.

You can do a Forum search for Lloyd Greens RV3 settings. Setting #7 as I recall.
fwiw, There have not been many complaints with the RV3 here on the forum over the years (and I know many players use them), but like any pedal, some will have issues.

I've been using a Digitech RP150 for about a year now and haven't had any problems with it at all. It has the Lexicon reverbs in it and plenty of other effects that is basically useless at least IMO. I mainly use the delay and reverb with several combination's programmed to my taste. I bought mine new on E-Bay for $75.00, spent another $15 for a neat matching carrying case. I know there are other alternatives out there that are a lot more expensive (and better). But for 75 bucks, it does a nice job. -Jerry

The POD has good verbs and delays, but would be a bit of overkill for just two effects. Try the Zoom G2. It's a $99 multi-effect unit. Nothing special about the reverb or delay sounds, but they aren't bad and it has much better converters than the Pod....resulting in a less compressed and lifeless feel when you play through it. You can have presets, multiple delays (3 delays at a time, with tap-tempo) and reverbs running at once, a 6-band eq, tuner and various other effects for the price of one pedal. It's also more compact than most multi-effects. About 1.5 the size of a boss pedal.

But if you want to buy my POD, I'll sell it to you. Smile

I love my RV3's, I have one on my guitar pedalboard, one on my steel pedalboard, and a spare. I haven't had any problems with any of them.

Eric West, Re: microphonic/noisy RV-3 - make sure you are using the OUTPUT A (mono) of the RV-3. If you use the OUTPUT B in mono there will be noise. It could be O.K. I thought mine was going bad one time but I was using the "B" output.

From the Dr Scientist site:

"First things first, the Sunny Day Delay is an analog-sounding delay. That means it uses a digital processor but in a way that sounds warm and interesting and dynamic"

I`m not trying to be a besserwisser, just observing Smile
