It is best and a short cut to learn from a person that has been there and done that. Jeff Spent 6 years staff steeler for the GOO, he started teaching in 1969 he told me,He seemss qualified to show us how it is done, at least it is good enough for me.
He told me it will take a while to unlearn bad habits and put in place the right way to do it. I did and now it works for me.
If somebody is a better teacher than Jeff introduce me to them, there are some just as good, maby, with a different way to do it, if so leard from them, a system is better than no system at all.

Hey Ernest Cawby, I never had the opportunity to meet Jeff Newman but I believe 100% of what you say and here is my reason, In the early 70's I bought "Music to get C6th by" and also "Music to back up by". These two records were IMHO two of the greatest teaching records ever released and the man that released these records was JEFF NEWMAN.. Music to get C6th by was great because it had standard songs with 3 to 4 variations or improvisations to the melody. Now the reason this was great is because after you learned these variations IT MADE YOU THINK OF MORE VARIATIONS...now that is mighty powerful teaching IMHO
